What inspired you to write From the Hood to Hollywood?

I read over thirty financial books, and I own five investment properties. Here’s the thing, I gained a lot of knowledge about investing over the years. But I realized many of my peers lacked this knowledge. One day I had a heated debate about assets and liabilities with some of my peers. My peers had little-to-no financial literacy in this debate. So I felt compelled to write a quick and easy read on how millennials can think like an investor.

How soon did you decide to write this book?

I rushed home right after the debate and a few keystrokes later… I finished writing the book in three hours.

What’s the biggest takeaway from your book?

Producers are the innovators in our communities. We need more innovators and fewer consumers.

Why did you choose From the Hood to Hollywood as your title?

Funny enough, the book’s content tells a different story than the title. The title hints at the mindset that grapples many people about never having enough money. Instead of spending up our last dollar, we should focus on building wealth for ourselves and future generations.

What are your top three favorite books?

In no particular order, my top three includes:

  • The Alchemist by Paulo Cohelo
  • The Blackman’s Guide to Understanding the Blackwoman by Shahrazad Ali
  • Think and Grow Rich: A Guide to Success for Black Americans by Dennis Kimbro

Say goodbye to financial stress and hello to financial success with this book!
